BIG SOCCER GAME

CHATHAM CUP MATCH GLEN MASSEY AND COMRADES FIXTURE FOR HAMILTON Association football enthusiasts from all parts of South Auckland will travel to Hamilton on Saturday to see what promises to be one of the most interesting games Hamilton has ever staged. The champion soccer eleven from Auckland, Comrades, meets the champion South Auckland team. Glen Massey, at Seddon Park. Comrades is noted for its bustling tactics which it used to good advantage in its match with Grammar Old Boys on Saturday. It has an unbeaten record in Auckland soccer this year, and the city enthusiasts have the utmost confidence in its continuing on its winning way this week. Comrades’ outstanding players are M. Francis (who has scored 16 goals this season), Evans, Walters, Riggans, McKenna and Fincham.

Despite the Auckland team’s credentials, Glen Massey supporters will not waver in their confidence in their eleven. It will not be denied that this team is a great battling side, always doing its best even if its opponent is on top. Glen Massey’s determination was emphasised in the Cup final match with Rotowaro, when it was one goal down after a minute’s play, but ran out winners by four goals to one. It is interesting to note that on Saturday Glen Massey held Rotowaro to a draw, one goal each, on Rotowaro’s home ground. It is difficult to sort out any individual players in Glen Massey’s team, but faith will be pinned in Gorman, J. Montford, the Griffith brothers and Connew.
