Copyright) (Received July 17, 11 a.m.) ROME, July 16 A communique states: Italian planes bombarded the port of Haifa, causing fires. In East Africa Italian troops pushed into Kenya, occupying four strategic places. In the region of Lake Rudolf, also in Kenya, the Italians, aided by native forces, repulsed British attacks. Oil refineries and other plants at Haifa were hit. All the Italian planes returned safely. Enemy planes unsuccessfully attacked Tobruk. In East Africa Italian troops occupied Sukeila-Terkale, Tagaba. Kokaiy-dola and Danisa, and thus cut off 300 kilometres of the Kenya salient between Italian Somaliland and Ethiopia.
