SENTENCES CONFIRMED (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday The officer commanding the northern military district, Colonel N. W. McD. Weir, has confirmed and promulgated the sentences passed by the district court martial against two soldiers on charges of desertion Gunner Robert Guthrie, Royal New Zealand Artillery, 9th Heavy Regiment, charged with desertion of being absent without leave, was sentenced to 90 days’ imprisonment with hard labour. He has also forfeited 3G days’ pay. Gunner Tracy Fry, 9th Heavy Regiment, similarly charged, was sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment without hard labour and ordered to be dismissed from His Majesty’s forces. Fry will forfeit 89 days’ pay.
