PARCELS FOR FORCES
SERVICE FOR BACKBLOCKS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday There are people in backblocks districts who have no facilities for sending parcels to members of th<? fighting services overseas and wish to do so. The secretary of the National Patriotic Fund Board will undertake to arrange such a service on their behalf. Mr Hayden made this announcement in connection with a letter from a woman in the backblocks who found great difficulty in this respect, and forwarded him 10s to send a parcel to her only son. Mr Hayden feels that a number ol other people may be similarly situated, and he brought the matter before the council, which agreed it was a good idea to provide a parcels service for such people, but it had to be made clear that the service was confined to people in the backblocks unable to purchase suitable goods.
