OUR JEWEL SOLD PURCHASED BY E. G. BRIDGENS TO ENTER F. J. SMITH STABLE The pacer, Our Jewel, who over the past two seasons has performed prominently in the Auckland Centre, has been sold to Mr E. G. Bridgens, president of the Auckland Trotting Club, at a substantial figure. Our Jewel, who is at present spelling on Mr G. H. Jew’s farm at Ngaruawahia, he was bred, raced in the interests of Mrs Jew and during the eighteen months he has been racing has won £BSO in stakes, his most important successes beng accorded on the Auckland Trotting Club’s course at Alexandra Park, Epsom. It will be recalled that he won his first race at Epsom, defeating Josedale Grattan who races in the colours of the popular Auckland Trotting president. It transpires that repeated overtures for the purchase of Our Jewel were made by a leading Christchurch trainer and the fact that he did not wish to see the horse go out of the province influenced Mr Bridgen* in acquiring Our Jewel, whom fie intends to give a special preparation 1 for the New Zealand Cup meeting at Addington in November. Our Jewel is to be sent to Auckland this week where he will enjer the well-known Takanini stable of F. J. Smith.
