Irene Hervey and Allan Jones Together In “The Boys From Syracuse ”

By signing Irene Hervey for an important role in “The Boys fr°m Syacuse,” producer Jules Levey will effect Miss Hervey’s first film appearance with her husband, Allan Jones. Levey had previously cast Jones in a dual role, embracing the parts played by Eddie Albert and Ronald Graham in the Broadway version of the comedy hit. Jones and Miss Hervey have been married since 1936, but have never appeared together on the screen. In “The Boys from Syracuse” one of the characters played by Jones is married to Miss Hervey. The other Jones role is that of a twin brother who romances with Rosemary Lane. The latter plays Miss Hervey’s sister. Martha Raye. Joe Penner, Charles Butterworth, Alan Mowbray and Eric Blore have been signed for other leading roles in the Mayfair production, to be released by Universal. Eddie Sutherland will direct from the screen play by Leonard Spigelgass and Charles Grayson, based on the stage play by George Abbott, Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart.
