Laughton and Lombard Again

An interesting studio reunion will be that of Carole Lombard and Charles Laughton who, though difficult to suit in the matter of stories, has a number of assignments piling up for him in Hollywood. They appeared together a few years ago in “White Woman” and they are not likely to forget the experience; it was probably the worst picture in which either has ever played. Now they are to be teamed again in “They Knew What They Wanted," a screen adaptation of a highly-cen-sorable play written by Sidney Howard 20 years ago. Carole will appear as a San Francisco waitress who leaves the city to marry a farmer through a matrimonial advertisement. The farmer, Mr Laughton, has, however, not quite played the game. The photograph he has sent is really that of his young and good-looking foreman. The girl falls for the foreman.
