FAREWELL PARTY
TAHUNA FUNCTION Friends from Hoe-o-tainui and Tahuna held a farewell party in the Tahuna Hall recently in honour of Mr and Mrs Alister McHardy and family who are leaving the district. On behalf of the residents Mr James Robertson presented the guests-of-honour with a canteen of cutlery suitably inscribed. Mr Stewart, county member of Tahuna, spoke of the interest % Mr McHardy and family had taken in the district in the past and wished them all good luck. Mr Harold Philcox paid eugolistic reference to the work Mr Hardy had done for the Tahuna football club. Mr Dudley Twining also thanked Mr and Mrs Hardy for the interest they had always taken in the Hoe-o-tainui tennis club. Mrs McHardy, who has been an active member of the Hoe-o-tainui League of Mothers was presented with a floral horseshoe and her daughter, Cicely, with a floral shoulder spray, by Mrs Elliott, who wished the recipients every success and a happy future. A dainty supper was served.
