WAGES APPLICATION GENERAL ORDER SOUGHT HEARING IN WELLINGTON (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday The Arbitration Court left tonight for Wellington, where on July 12 it will consider an application from the Painters’ Union for an increase in award wages to meet the higher cost of living. Mr H. F. Butland. registrar of the Court, said today that whatever decision the Court made would affect workers under all awards. The Christchurch Fire Brigade Employees’ Union, whose application for a new award was before the Court today, had in conciliation council the day before agreed nc# to press for a wage increase at that stage to meet the higher cost of living, but to await the decision of the Court.
