SOLDIERS FOUGHT ON
UNAWARE OF ARMISTICE GENERAL WEYGAND’S ORDER (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Aeceived July 4, 11 a.m.) VICHY, July 3 General Weygand, in an Order of the Day, said that 22,000 French soldiers in the Maginot Line, unaware of the armistice, fought on for five days after the “Cease Fire” order. LONDON, July 3 The Times says three forts of the Maginot Line are still resisting. The Franco-German Armistice Commission has arranged with General Huntziger for an attempt to approach the forts and inform the defenders that an armistice has been signed.
