Pensions for Soldiers The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. There must of necessity be some delay in dealing with applications, and discharged soldiers in need of immediate assistance should claim benefit under the Social Security Act, as assistance either for sickness or unemployment could be given under that Act. Any benefit it granted under the Act would not prejudice a soldier’s application for a war pension.
