BRITAIN’S SOUND SYSTEM FINANCING THE WAR United Press Assn.— FTpc T*»’ CnnvrißTit) LONDON, July 2 Urging continuous and increasing support of the 2\ per cent. National War Bonds, of which the total subscribed in eight days up to this evening is £61,000,000, the Governor of the Bank of England, Mr Montagu Norman, said British national savings were starting on sounder lines than those adopted in the last war. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Kingsley Wood, stated in the House of Commons that the total amount received to date in interestfree loans was £6,766,080, apart from various offers indicated but not yet completed. The Secretary of State for the Colonies, Lord Lloyd, telegraphed to the Governor of Barbadoes, expressing Britain’s appreciation of a further gift of £IOO,OOO toward the cost of the war.
