OBITUARY

MR C. T. D. BEARDMORE OLD HUNTLY RESIDENT The death has occurred at the Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, of Mr Charles Thomas Daniel Beardmore, a well-known resident of the Huntly and Kimihia districts, in his 64th year. Born at Gippsland, Australia, Mr Beardmore was connected with gold mining there for several years. He came to New Zealand over 35 years ago and resided at Waihi. Later he resided for several years at Coromandel, where he worked in the coal-mine. He married Miss Annie Elizabeth Coulson, of Auckland, at Auckland in 1911. They lived at Auckland for a short period, and then moved to Huntly for nine months before taking up residence at Kimihia 22 years ago, where they had since remained. During that time, Mr Beardmore had worked in the Kimihia coal mine with Mr R. Johnson, and later at Rotowaro and Renown mines, being employed at the latter mine for about 10 years, until he retired over two years ago. Mr and Mrs Beardmore celebrated their silver wedding on July 4 four years ago. Mr Beardmore is survived by his wife, one son, Mr Charles Samuel Beardmore, of Hamilton, and two daughters, Mrs H. A. Leahy, of Auckland, and Miss Elsie Beardmore, of Huntly. There is one grandchild. Three brothers and three sisters are living in Australia. AUCKLAND, Wednesday The death has occurred of Mr David Duncan, a- director of John Chambers and Son, Limited, after a short illness. He had been secretary of the company for 35 years, and was a Fellow of the New Zealand Society of Accountants and also of the Australasian Institute .of Secretaries.

He was born in Scotland and came to New Zealand over 40 years ago. He was vice-commodore of St. George’s Rowing Club, an officer of St. David’s Presbyterian Church, an enthusiastic Freemason, being a past Grand Treasurer of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, and was installed in February last as First Grand Principal of the Royal Arch Masons of New Zealand.
