PERFORMERS’ CLUB

“ALL NATIONS” NIGHT The ever-present clouds of war were momentarily forgotten by members of the Hamilton Performers’ Club on Saturday, when the chib held its first gala night of the season, the “All Nations” night. Britishers mingled with peasants of every nationality, Russian Cossacks chatted with French artists, Cockneys joked with Indian maharajahas, and altogether a most congenial atmosphere of “world conditions” existed. Flags representative of every nation were entwined with red, white and blue streamers and clusters of balloons. Around the walls were beautiful sketches included in which were the New Zealand fern, the thistle, the shamrock and the rising sun. Dancing, singing, an enjoyable programme and a grand parade all contributed to the outstanding success of the evening. Dance music was supplied by Mr W. Whitehead, accompaniments were played by Mr Whitehead and Mrs J. Crawford and Mr G. Kingston was master of ceremonies. The Programme The programme was as follows: Vocal solos, Miss Oonagh Baker; elocution, Miss Ruth Carbon; vocal duets, Miss D. Liddy and Mr H. Liddy; a play-reading, “Tatermania,” produced by Mr D.
