RED CROSS WORK

SICK AND WOUNDED MEN DIFFERENT FROM PATRIOTIC Doubt still appears to exist in the minds of many people regarding the difference in the type of war work which is undertaken by the Red Cross Society and the Patriotic Committees, according to the views of several delegates to the meeting In Hamilton last night of the Waikato centre of the Red Cross Society of New Zealand. “By Government regulation,” said the chairman, Dr. W. R. Fea, in explanation, “the Red Cross is entrusted with the care of the noncombatant soldier, that is the sick and the wounded. On the other hand the care and comfort of fit soldiers whether in training camps at home or on active service overseas is a charge on patriotic funds. “There should be absolutely no rivalry.” concluded Dr. Fea, “as both organisations are working for the boys.”
