NAZI HORRORS

MUST BE DESTROYED SPEECH BY DR. BENES GERMAN RESPONSIBILITY (United i-ress Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received March 2, 12 noon) LONDON, March 1 Dr Benes, ex-President of Czechoslovakia, in a speech at Cardiff, said: “For the present war and for all the horrors of Nazism Germany is responsible as a State and the Germans responsible as a nation. My fear is that the democracies will not see that the essence of this struggle is the destruction of the Nazi ideology, in addition to the Nazi regime, and the military machine of every nation is responsible for its government—democracy because it elects its Government, and dictatorship because it tolerates and obeys its dictator. “I do not mean that a policy of vengeance and destruction is

necessary after the war, but it is folly to believe that we are fighting only against Nazism. It will be necessary to create a Europe in which it will be impossible for any new Hitler to arise.”
