WOOL APPRAISAL
ABOUT 15,000 BALES COMMENCEMENT AT AUCKLAND (By Telegraph.—rresa Association) AUCKLAND, Monday Some 15,000 bales are forward at the Parnell stores for the fourth appraisal of wool in Auckland for sale to Britain under the war-time bulk purchase scheme. The appraisal commenced to-day, and it is expected that the appraisers will be engaged at the stores for two days. The unseasonable weather has resulted in Smaller quantities being received into stores during recent weeks, and the appraisal is smaller than at earlie*' fixtures. Quality is expected to be up to the usual standard for this time of the year Final Appraisal Growers who have yet to deliver their clips to brokers are reminded that the final appraisal in Auckland this season will be he*d on April 1. To give brokers time for final prej parations, wool for this fixture ; should be in the stores by the middle I of March, unless growers wish it to j be held over until next season. Prices so far this season have been very satisfactory, and already the sum of £1,078.000 has been distributed from the three appraisals, which is more than the cheque for the whole of the previous season. Average values have been over £l7 a bale, and growers have the added advantage of receiving their cheques earlier than usual.
