HALT AT TE KUITI

RADIO FOR PASSENGERS Te Kuiti’s topography was well investigated by the 600 passengers who had to wait there during most of yesterday. The passengers took the situation philosophically and spent the day wandering about the town or sitting about in groups in picnic fashion. The inevitable knitting needles were much in prominence among the women passengers, who doubtless made their stay in Te Kuiti quite profitable. For entertainment a radio was installed on the station platform and proved very popular with the waiting travellers. All the passengers were unstinted in their praise of the station refreshment staff, who worked long hours to cope with the unusually heavy demand for meals.
