MORRIS’ TEAM WINS
PUBLIC SERVICE EVENT PLAY AT WHITIORA GREEN The annual tournament of the South Auckland Public Service Bowling Association, which was held on the Whitiora Club’s greens on Saturday, proved an outstanding success. The tournament was contested by an entry of 24 teams, which were representative of nearly all departments of the public service. The greens were in excellent order, and, despite the fact that bowlers have had only limited play lately because of the wet weather, the standard of play • was high and many games were very evenly contested. The winning team was the Public Trust rink, Gallagher, Moore, Joyce and Morris, which won outright with five wins aftei playing great bowls throughout the day. The runnersup with 4i wins were Sullivan, Turney, Lock, and Morgan, who comprised one of the rinks representing Education. The presentation of trophies was made by the president of the South Auckland Public Service Bowling Association, Mr W. Chegwidden, who congratualted the winners on their success.
