AUCKLAND GAMES FIRST INNINGS WINS (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Sunday Victory for Middlemore and Eden on the first innings was achieved soon after the tea adjournment at Eden Park, Auckland, yesterday afternoon against Ponsonby-Balmoral and Y.M.C.A. respectively. On the third wicket University and Parnell had an exciting finish, Parnell winning by 14 runs. Over at North Shore the home team, in its one-day match with Grafton, was dismissed cheaply for 112, but this proved a difficult hurdle for its opponents. It was left for the last pair to pull the match out of the fire, Cowie and Turner putting on 23. Turner scored one only, but it was the winning hit. At stumps scores were as follows: Y.M.C.A. 108 v. Eden 209. Parnell 169 v. University 155. North Shore 112 v. Grafton 113. Ponscnby-Balmoral 107 (first innings). 78 for six wickets (second innings) v. Middlemore 137.
