MISS BEVERLEY WINS
AUCKLAND TENNIS WOMEN’S SINGLES VICTORY IN BRILLIANT FORM (By Telegrapn.—*ress Association) AUCKLAND, Saturday The Auckland tennis championships entered the final stages today in fine but dull weather. In the women’s final Miss Margaret Beverley (Waikato)* playing better tennis than at any stage of the tournament, beat Mrs Morse (formerly Miss Bishop), of Auckland, in straight sets, 6—2, 6—3. The outstanding woman tennis player in New Zealand for several seasons, Miss M. Beverley has won the Auckland title four times, the first three when still an intermeidate. By winning five titles for the third year in succession in the Auckland tournament last season she established what is regarded as a record that is likely to stand for many years. With her sister, Miss N. Beverley, she has held the women’s doubles title for four seasons.
