FIRM COMPETITION

PRICES VARY LITTLE MARKET AT MORRINSVILLE MOST YARDINGS CLEARED Fat sheep met firm competition at the Morrinsville sale yesterday and prices remained steady on late rates. Bidding for store lambs was not as keen as at last week’s sale, and prices were also generally easier for breeding ewes, the quality of the offerings not being as good as at the last sale. Vendors, however, met the market. Two-tooth ewes met a dull response, practically all attention being centred in older sheep. The cattle forward were in steady demand with prices for beef and boner cows firm on late rates. Potter bulls sold freely at advanced values. Competition for baconers and porkers was keen at rates fully up to last week’s. Choppers were also in good demand, and realisations for store and weaner pigs were slightly in advance of those at the previous sale.
