For grease stains on fine fabrics, buy a quart of distilled water from a chemist’s and add one teaspoonful of saltpetre, one ounce of shaving soap, finely sliced, and four tablespoonfuls of ammonia. Warm the mixture until dissolved. Put a piece of blotting paper under the fabric, dip a piece of flannel into the solution, and rub with a circular motion until the stain disappears.
