SOLDIERS CONVICTED
CONVERSION OF MOTOR CAR COMMENT BY MAGISTRATE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday “This is just about as gross a case of conversion as I have had; I do not feel disposed to extend any leniency ■whatever,” said Mr E. C. Levvy S.M., in court today in sentencing three soldiers from Burnham to three months’ imprisonment for car conversion. The men were Harold Frederick Price, mechanic, David Harold Miller, labourer, and Patrick James Houlihan. On charges of driving in a dangerous manner they were convicted and discharged. Price and Miller were charged with being intoxicated in charge of a car. Each was convicted and had his license cancelled for four years. The police evidence showed that the three accused removed Dr. Pairman’s car from his residence on Sunday and later, after just missing a cyclist, had crashed into a hedge.
