GLOWING TRIBUTE
LATE LORD TWEEDSMUIR ENDEARED TO CANADIANS GREAT DEVOTION TO DUTY (Official wireless) (Received Feb. 15. 1 p.m.) RUGBY, Feb. 14 The Prime Minister of Canada has ent the following message to Mr. Anthony Eden:— “ Please accept my warmest thanks, on behalf of the Canadian Government and people, for the telegram with which you record the deep regret of the British Government at the passing of Lord Tweedsmuir and desire to be associated with us in our national sorrow. “By his broad humanity, great gifts, high conception of office, devotion to duty, unsparing dedication of himself to the service of Canada, and wide knowledge of our country and people, Lord Tweedsmuir endeared himself to all classes of Canadians. His passing is regarded as a personal loss in thousands of homes in this land. “ The telegrams of sympathy which have reached us from all parts of the world bear witness to the affection, regard and admiration which his character and the labour of his life won for him among men of many races. Everything he did and said brought honour to the country of his birth and the country of his adoption. His presence amongst us made the people proudly happy, and an example such as his will remain as an abiding memory In this land, which ho loved so much and served so well.”
