NEW SUPERINTENDENT WELCOME AT HOSPITAL MET BY MEDICAL STAFF An informal welcome to Dr. H. L. Gould, who commenced his duties as Superintendent of the Waikato Hospital, was given to-day by members ! of the medical staff, with whom were j associated the chairman of the Waikato Hospital Board, Mr F. Findlay, | the secretary, Mr A. C. Burgess, the ! architect, Mr J. H. Edgecumbe, and the house-manager, Mr G. W. : Yallop. In congratulating Dr. Gould on

j his appointment, Mr Findlay said he | hoped he would occupy the position | for many years. He referred to the ; loyalty of Dr. R. S. A. Graham and ! all members of the medical staff dur- : ing the period they had carried on } pending Dr. Gould’s appointment, and \ assured the new superintendent of ! the wholehearted support of the staff, j Reference to Dr. Gould’s high qualifications as an administrator was j made by Dr. Graham, Director of Surgery, who said the volume of work | now carried out in the Waikato Hospital Board’s district had made it im- ! perative to have a superintendent concerned purely with administrative work. In the appointment of Dr. Gould the medical staff had been fortunate, and Dr. Gould was assured of their earnest co-operation. In reply, Dr. Gould thanked the speakers for their references to him, and those present for the cordial introduction they had given him to his new duties. He said he would do his utmost to maintain the spirit of co-operation among the medical staff which had always been a feature of j the Waikato Hospital. \
