MR EDEN’S POPULARITY ENTHUSIASM OF AUSTRALIANS (Unitei! Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, February 12 Major-General Wavell recalled his service under General Allenby, when he saw the Australians in action. Brigadier Allen, Acting-Comman-der of the Australian Force, expressed thanks on behalf of the men. The troops cheered the news that their safe arrival had been broadcast throughout Australia and called for cheers for “Tony” Eden. Britain acknowledged the response of New Zealand and Australia to the war drums beating to quarters for the freedom of the world. “ Anzacs ” is the word rising banner-like from every contents bill and from every leader chronicling the troops’ arrival in Egypt.
