Mr H. D. Caro, Mayor of Hamilton. returned this morning from Wellington. Mr F. Luxford and Mr I. Elston, of Hamilton, are visiting Wellington. Mr J. F. Keane, who has been in Hamilton on Supreme Court business, has returned to Rotorua. Mr M. H. Hampson, who has been in Hamilton on Supreme Court business, has returned to Rotorua. Colonel Sir Hugh Acland, of Christchurch, has been appointed Assistant Director of Medical Services, southern military district. The Rev. K. Harawira, of Rotorua, has been appointed chaplain to the Maori Battalion, on the recommendation of the Anglican military affairs committee. The Rev. J. H. Starnes, formerly of Morrinsville and now of Knox Church, Dannevirke, has accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church at Rangitaiki, Bay of Plenty, for health reasons. Sir Harry Batterbee, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, has accepted an invitation to be present at the Centennial celebrations at Napier on February 24, and will visit Hastings two days later. Messrs C. Benges (Christchurch), R. Stewart (Wanganui), P. McGlashan (Wellington), R. J. Law (Shannon). A. D. McKinley, C. L. Hall and F. W. Webb (Auckland) are at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr G. E. A. Wilkes, district manager of the Hamilton office of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, has retired from his position. Mr W. H. Coltman, of Invercargill, has succeeded Mr Wilkes. Mr Frank Wright, musical director to the London County Council, has arrived at Wellington to adjudicate at the Centennial band contest of the New Zealand Bands’ Association commencing_on Sunday.
