parked in Robertson Street, and who had left a small child imprisoned in it, to remove the child without delay. The appeal is one which has been made at a number of race meetings on previous occasions, among them the Rotorua meeting last year.
"I was amazed to hear of people going away and leaving a child shut up in such a manner,” said Mr Parry. “I cannot say whether there is power under the Police Offences Act to deal with cases such as this, but I shall certainly investigate. I understand, that similar instances have occurred at other meetings, and I shall sec what can be done to check what is undoubtedly a highly dangerous and most inhumane practice.”
