FIRM MARKET

KEEN PRICES FOR BEEF VALUES AT FRANKTON With the beef export schedule up to 34s against 32s 6d last week, there was a very keen demand for beef at the Frankton sale to-day, steers selling readily at last week’s advanced rates with occasional price changes in favour of vendors. Cow and heifer beef, which was in average supply, was also in keen request, and here again late rates were repeated with advances in some instances. Heavy steers were traded to-day from £l2 5s to £l3 15s, and heaviest cows and heifers from £8 15s to £lO 10s. A small entry of calves made late rates, while boners were again in animated demand. A full entry of fat sheep elicited keen competition and over the early sales values were on a par with those of last week, best wethers making from 25s 6d to 27s 6d. In the pig section baconers made up to 89s against last week, while porkers were fully firm at late advanced rates.
