WILL BE WELL MAITAINED COMMENT OF COMMANDER MR MENZIES PLEASED Brief biographical sketches of Major-General B. C. Freyberg, V.C., commander of the New Zealand force, and Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas Blarney, leader of the Australian force, were given by the British announcer, who added that MajorGeneral Fra,berg's comment on the arrival of the troops was characteristic. He said:— "I would wager any military experience I possess, which I will back, that the men of this force will strive to uphold the great reputation of New Zealand's expeditionary force of the last war," A message received in London from Australia, said the Federal Prime Minister. Mr Menzies. stated that he was delighted at the safe arrival of the force. The New Zealanders went down the gangway tr the strains of ‘Auid Lang Syne,” played by pipers.
