WARNING BY MINISTER WORK MUST BE RESUMED GOVERNMENT’S WIDE POWERS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Monday The Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb, announced to-day that if the production of coal is not resumed at the Dobson and Wallsend mines he will not hesitate to recommend that the Government take over and work the mines under its war emergency powers.
WORK TO BE RESUMED SPECIAL MEETING OF MINERS (By Telegraph.— Association) GREYMOUTH. Monday Idle since January 24 through the holiday pay dispute the Dobson coalmine will resume operations on Wednesday. The Wallsend Mine, idle since January 22 in connection with the same dispute, will also resume at an early date, probably this week. The Grey Valley Workers’ Union (Dobson) will hold a special meeting at Wallsend to-morrow morning and the Brunner Miners’ Union wiil meet at 2 o'clock to-morrow to discuss arrangements fur a resumption.
