EQUAL SACRIFICE
PETROL CONSERVATION MINISTER APPEALS TO USERS WELLINGTON, Saturday Stating that the Government is doing everything in its power to eaualise the sacrifice entained by the 30 per cent overall reduction in petrol consumption, the Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, issues an appeal to fu>.mers and commercial users to be reasonable in their applications, and to remember that the restrictions are imposed at the request of the British Government for war purposes, and not for reasons of New Zealand’s internal economy. The Minister states that it is essential for advisory committees to consider every application fully, and j he appeals to applicants not to be impatient regarding what they might 1 feel to be unnecessary delays. Many of the amounts asked for have been I beyond the normal requierments of ■ applicants, and as a result all applications have to be examined in considerable detail. Co-operation with the committees and the district controllers will not only help the conservation of petrol, but vitally assist New Zealand in her war efforts.
