DELIVERY OF BREAD SUGGESTION BY DRIVERS A proposal that bakers’ deliveries be zoned has been considered by the Auckland Drivers’ Union, and a remit for the Drivers’ Federation in Wellington that the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Industries and Commerce, be request* to inaugurate a zoning scheme Tor all bread deliveries was adopted. The secretary of the union, Mr L. G Matthews, said members considered that zoning would not only assist to conserve petrol but would also reduce hours of work and make the five-day week available for drivers. The union believed that, as public opinion was in favour of the restrictions, it would also be in favour of tne elimination of bread deliveries one day a week—on Wednesdays. By zoning, dead mileage would be eliminated.
