WOOL AND TEXTILES
CONTROL IN BRITAIN MISCONCEPTIONS DISPELLED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (.Received Feb. 10. 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 9 Addressing 2000 representatives of the wool and textile industry at Bradford, Sir David Shackleton, Wool Controller, explained that many of the Board of Control’s actions, replied to criticisms and dispelled a number of misconceptions. He reiterated the Bord’s intention to foster the export trade as much as possible, even to the detriment of civilian home business. Incidentally he mentioned experiments that were being made for the introduction of merino wool into service cloth, to allow more crossbreds to be released for other essential needs. He said he was satisfied the prices they intended to charge at the next rationing period were justifiable on the cost price of raw material, plus expenses, and maintained the prices were not excessive.
