E GIRLS AND BOYS, E And now the Holiday Ship has once more dropped its E = anchor off the shores of happy school days and all its jolly cargo E has been spirited away by the clanging of the school bell. Peter j= = finds the streets and gardens very quiet and deserted now that all E E the little people have gone, but as soon as the three o’clock bell rings “ = little folk seem to spring up in the most unexpected places—just like ~ E mushrooms. Such jolly adventures there have been to chatter about E haven’t there, for some there are thrilling tales of the Centennial = E Exhibition, for others stories of adventure beside the sea and for E E those who didn’t go away there are lots of interesting little stories ~ E to tell too. But now another year of hard work lies ahead of you E E and Peter hopes that you will all find 1940 to be the happiest, E E jolliest and most successful year ever. E The Circle People are waiting for the holiday mail to arrive E E and this week Peter received a letter from one little member with E E THIRTEEN closely written pages brimming with Exhibition news. E E But the Circle People are very very greedy and now they are E E waiting—not very patiently—for more holiday mail. Mr Mail Bag E E was very pleased when he saw the fat envelope and remarked that E E it was quite like old times again. E But just a little flower news for the Sunshine Girl has just E E arrived with the loveliest bunch of gold and purple pansies and E E such a lovely picture they make in a golden bowl too. The Wendy E E Person has a bed of the most beautiful dahlias Peter has ever seen, = E for the petals range from the softest pale pinks to the deepest of E E deep velvet reds.
