THE ICE BALLET
FIVE NIGHTS IN HAMILTON TOUR RE-ARRANGED As an outcome of the many pressing invitations from various centres to present their “Switzerland” Ice Ballet and Revue the management of J. C. Williamson Limited have rearranged the tour to include several more towns. Advice was received in Hamilton this week that the company would appear here for a season season of five nights in April. There has been some hesitancy in promising a visit, because of the limitations imposed by the size of the ice area required for the performance. This has been standardised at 30ft by 40ft (or 1200 square feet), which is quite in order in the centres, but not always possible in the smaller theatres. However, Mr John Tait, who is on a visit to Wellington from Sydney, was so impressed with the insistence of these requests that with two mechanics he left to inspect theatres in Hamilton, Gisborne, Napier, and possibly elsewhere, to see if it were possible to adapt the ice rink to the local stages.
Local playgoers will welcome the announcement of the visit of this noted company which is headed by Megan Taylor (ex-world champion skater) and her father Mr Phil Taylor, whose trick skating is of the highest merit.
