STOCK SALE ON MONDAY
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, draw attention to their Oparau stock sale I to take place on Monday, at which fixture they will offer CSO head of j cattle, including a number of lines lof Polled Angus and Hereford I station-bred cattle, together with 100 j dairy cows and heifers and mixed cattle. j The New Zealand Loan and Merj cantile Agency Company, Limited, draws attention to its Rangiriri sale next Wedn/day, when it will yard 4000 sheep and 650 head of cattle. At its Cambridge sale on Monday the company will yard 7000 sheep. Support for War Effort The Makara County Council (Wellington) passed a resolution supporting the Prime Minister’s assurance that New Zealand will support the Allies to the extent of a maximum war effort. An amendment favouri ing conscription was lost on the cast- | ing vote of the chairman. During I the discussion a member said they I could not set out to express the j views of those they represented on 1 the subject of conscription. Preparation For Auction I Stock clerks and auctioneers had an unenviable task at Morrinsville 1 vesterday in preparing for the sale !of a record entry of 30,000 store | sheep. A small army of men commenced drafting the sheep at 4 u.m. yesterday morning, when rain and the semi-darkness made the work particularly arduous. Stock agents | were working at the yards till a late hour last night. The sheep comprised . the biggest number offered at a 1 i single auction in the Waikato for over 25 years.
