Farmers’ Holidays
In a discussion on the petrol restrictions at a meeting of the Bay of Plenty sub-provincial branch of the Farmers’ Union the view was expressed that, as town dwellers had no restrictions during their holiday period, which coincided with the farmers’ busy time, some allowance should be made for the farmers when their slack period arrived during May, June and July. It was decided that the following remit be submitted to the Auckland executive: "That representations be made to the Oil Controller that special permits over and above the number of coupons allowed be granted to farmers for holiday trips when required.”
