Mrs A. Jane, senr., has returned from six weeks’ tour of the South Island.

Mrs A. E. Bickle and Mrs E. C. Bath, Hamilton, are on holiday at Cox’s Bay, Raglan.

Mrs E. H. Apthorp has returned to Hamilton from a holiday spent in Wellington and Christchurch.

Mrs Howard Hammond, Hamilton, is visiting her sister, Mrs Thornton Jackson, Auckland.

The resignations of Nurses M. F. McKean and H. M. Ryburn, of the staff of the Waikato Hospital, and Nurse L. Perry, of the Matamata Hospital, were received by the Waikato Hospital Board yesterday.

“It was a hard world for women when I was young,” said Mrs C. K. Wilson, Pio Pio, when speaking at the presentation of medals at the Nurses’ Home yesterday afternoon. She spoke of the opportunities open to women now compared to the past, although she considered this was to a great extent off-set by the sense of security in those days which was unknown to this generation. “I do not think the good times experienced by the young people today have weakened their libre and when you girls are put to the test you wjjl not be found wanting,” concluded Mrs Wilson.
