Large Catch of Eels A large catch of eels was taken by a party of Maoris in the Waikato River just below the Aratiatia Rapids. In two nights they landed 32 eels, the heaviest weighing 251 b. and 191 b. The possibility of eels negotiating the Huka Falls and reaching Lake Taupo is believed to be remote.
