LORD TWEEDSMUIR CONDITION UNCHANGED (United Press Assn.—riof tpi. CoDvrlfrM) LONDON, Feb. 8 The condition of Lord Tw'eedsmuir, Governor-General of Canada, who suffered concussion when he fell and struck his head, is reported to be unchanged. The bulletin issued last night said he had had rather a restless day. BRITISH RAILWAYS (United Press Assn.—ni pc. tpT. Copvrlg-ht) LONDON, Feb. 7 It was announced in the House of Commons to-day that the Government, the companies owning the four main railways and the London Passenger Transport Board have agreed that the railways’ receipts and expenses shall be pooled. The railway companies will be paid annual sums equivalent to the average of their net revenue in the years 1935, 1936 and 1937. The Government will guarantee the payment of these sums, which will amount to about £40,000,000. JAPAN AND AMERICA (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrig-ht) TOKIO, Feb. 7 The Japanese Foreign Minister, Mr Arita, admitied in the Diet the legality of the denunciation by the United States of the trade treaty. He suggested Japan’s willingness to change her attitude in some cases affecting the position of the United States in China. PURCHASE OF SHIPS (United Press Assn.—Flpc. Tel. Copyright) WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 Five companies have submitted tenders for the purchase of 12 ships in the Australian and Far East service. These ranged from 76,000 dollars to 160,000 dollars per ship. | DIVORCED AND RE-MARRIED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrlg-ht) HOLLYWOOD. Feb. 7 The film actress Edna Best divorced the film actor Herbert Marshall and a few minutes afterward married Nat Wolff, a Hollywood theatrical agent, at Las Vegas, Nevada.
