COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
Mr and Mrs Turner, of Matangi, gave a delightful dance in the Matangi Hall recently to celebrate the coming-ol'-age of their son, John. A large number of friends and relatives attended and a very happy time was spent. Excellent music was played by Clayton’s dance band, and Mr J. Turner was master of ceremonies. During the serving of a delicious supper toasts were proposed and honoured, including one to the guest-of-honour, who, after cutting the beautiful birthday cake, was presented with the customary key, by his aunt, Mrs Greenfield, of Wellington. Mr Turner suitably replied. Among those present were:—Mesdames Turner, Burgundy satin grano; J. Vincent, navy-blue crepe-de-chine; Turner, Snr., brown matalasse; Greenfield, opal-blue silk velvet; Parks, black moire taffeta; Evans, blue flowered georgette; Shilton, black crepe cloque; Milne, bottle-green satin beaute; J. B. Taylor, apple-green sheer; Bath, fuchsia taffeta and silver; A. Pretty, petalpink ninonj’McCathy, wistaria crepe-de-chine; Graham (Otorohanga), powder-blue ninon.
