The Christmas Competions

High Standard of Entries

Although Peter was very disappointed in the number of entries sent in for the Christmas competitions, those which were received were of an exceptionally high standard and Peter and the Circle People had a very busy time deciding on the awards. To Joyce Harris especially, Peter sends his warmest congratulations for her beautiful oil painting which she may collect from the office at any time. The Wendy Person and the Sunshine Girl wanted to award everyone with prises but Peter was afraid that that was i npossible, so he sends his very best congratulations to those members who were fortunate enough to win a prize and to those \( r ho were not so lucky he sends a specially big “Thank You” for their splendid entries.

The Winning Entries

Here are some of the winning entries: Sail ahead with Christmas cheer, Gaily onward through the year, Prosperous breezes blow away All your troubles day by day. O’er the sea my thoughts are winging, O’er the miles my hopes they bring; May you have this Christmas season All that’s best of everything. —Ken Green If all of us had sweet thoughts and they all came true how happy everyone would be. I hope that all the little boys and girls whose daddies are soldiers will have a visit from Santa Claus and that all the little children who have no mummy or daddy will have the jolliest Christmas, for, they will have a lovely time if Santa does not forget them. —Dawn Peterson

My thoughts are fun for all of us, It’s Christmas time that makes it; Now find the answer, there’s reward For each of us who gets it. First add courage and some heart; Divide the troubles of a friend, Take on yourself a share, Subtract a little from the sorrow, And multiply a hundred times The kind and happiness you do. The answer you’ll never guess; It’s the total, Happiness. —Cushla Peterson
