BARBARITY OF NAZIS

Ghastly details concerning the conduct of German concentration camps have long been in the possession of the British Government, but in the interests of appeasement they have been withheld from publication. Now that Nazi propaganda must be answered, and when it is desirable that all people should know the character of the cult that seeks to dominate the world, the revolting story of cruelty and beastliness has been released. The reports, gathered carefully by the British Government from responsible witnesses, are thoroughly well authenticated. They will be denied by the Nazis, but they will So into history as. substantiated facts which will for ever place a stigma upon the Nazi regime. Men, women and children who have escaped from the Nazi terror are scattered throughout the world. Their testimony is too uniform, too convincing and too well proved to admit of the acceptance of any Nazi denial. Even in New Zealand there are many refugees who know only too well that the British revelations are not overdrawn but, in fact, do not tell the whole story of the inhuman campaign against the Jews and other foreigners. They can tell, when fear of the consequences is removed, that the Nazis have proved beyond all doubt that they have forfeited any right to control even their own people without aspiring to further conquests and to international leadership.

It is against this background that the Nazis are fighting for their existence, and it was proper that Britain should release all the information it possesses so that neutral countries might not be trapped into giving assistance to a regime whose sinister character is not fully understood. There is incontrovertible evidence that many of the German people have been nauseated by the fiendish cruelties in the concentration camps, and even in public during the antiJewish campaign. Where can this excess of barbarity lead the German people? Will not the civilised world recoil from the indecency of the Nazi method and shun the nation that permits it? And will not the nations that are at war with Germany redouble their efforts to ensure that they do not become the slaves of this loathsome dio tatorship?
