LEADERS IN CONFERENCE TO INCREASE PRODUCTION (Ofllcial Wireless) (Received Sept. 26, 3.15 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 25 Mr C. R. Attlee and Mr A. Greenwood, Labour leaders, called at 10 Downing Street this afternoon to discuss with Mr Chamberlain, who was accompanied by the Ministers of Labour and Supply, plans for increasing production. Lord Perry has been appointed business adviser to the Ministry of Food. During the Great War Lord Perry was director of the agricultural machinery division of the Food Production Department. It was this division that acquired and operated a large fleet of agricultural tractors, which played such an important part in the ploughing up in 1917-1918. Later he became deputy-controller of the Mechanical Warfare Department and director of traction in the Ministry of Munitions. More Wool Wanted The Wool Committee announces that the Government requires a considerable quantity of wool at the maximum prices, subject to such additions as may be made thereto when the Control Committee takes aver supplies. This should relieve the reluctance of traders to sell. The International Wool Secretariat denies the rumour that stocks are inadequate. Similarly the supply side is fully adequate to cope with belligerent and neutral demand.
