TOWN HALL PROPOSALS BOROUGH COUNCIL DECISION TRANSPORT TERMINALS PLANNED Proposals for the erection of a Town Hall in Hamilton have now been abandoned by the Hamilton Borough Council, and on the site set aside at Garden Place for the building the council will establish a transport terminus. A start will be made in October I on the remaining portion of the hill I and the work should be completed 5 within four months from that date. Plans For Gardens The {gardens between the parking areas would be laid down in grass with modern seats about the turf. A large sundial would be erected in the centre of the forward area. In the i lanes between the gardens 160 cars would be parked. The area adjoining Anglesea Street, previously set aside for the Town Hall, would now become a civic centre, as it was considered that the hall to be erected by the Winter Show Association would serve Hamilton for many years. A loan poll would go before j the ratepayers for the purchase from j the special rating area of this land i for the civic centre, j Additional parking space would be made available by having a civic i centre. A transport terminal for buses ! and service cars would also be established there.
