NOXIOUS WEEDS

AROHENA DISTRICT DISCUSSION BY WAIPA COUNCIL (Special to Times) TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday. The task of controlling noxious weeds in the Arohena area presents a problem for settlers and local bodies, and at the August meeting of the Waipa County Council, a communication came from the Otorohanga County Council stating that it approved of tiie suggestion that arrangements be made for tiie Waipa County Council to take control in the district as it was felt that owing to the topographic and geographic position the administration would be better. Mr L>. B. Livingstone said that the position was such that if the council took over the work it would have a big job. There was much native land and Crown land which did nol produce any rate revenue. He did not care for the suggestion. Mr Hall pointed out that as long as the area grew noxious weeds the seed would spread to the Waipa county. The inspector of noxious weeds, Mr G. M.
