THE CRISIS OVER DANZIG
The Free State of Danzig, established in 1020 and under protection of the League of Nations, comprises 1893 square kilometers of the former Prussian province, West Prussia and has a population of about 407,000. Danzig, situated six kilometers from the sea. is connected with Germany through four railway lines —namely, to Konigsberg, Breslau, Berlin and Stettin, and with Poland by three lines to Warsaw, Lodz and Posen. The population of the city is ‘258,000. The main part of Poland’s most important export goods are shipped in Danzig. The second largest town in the Free State is the renowned watering place, Zoppot, with 31,000 inhabitant*.
