MAORI STRUCK BY TRAIN
TAURANGA IDENTITY RECEIVED CORONATION MEDAL (By Telegraph.—Press Association) TAURANGA, Tuesday Ttie elderly native, Sam Tu, who was struck by a train on the railway bridge to Matapahl last evening, was coming to Tauranga at the time of the evident and was nearly across tlia bridge. Those on the train were not aware of the accident. TKs bod>, i 1 badly mutilated, was fouuo at 7.15 I j r.ni. i Sam Tu. who was over TO, had resided in the district all his life and belonged to the Ngatltapu tribe, lie was among ttie recipients of tlie King George VI Coronation Medal. In his younger days he was a prominent athlete in the Bay of Plenty. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
